Welcome to the GMIS Round Up!

Christmas 2024

Hello everyone!

As we approach the end of a busy and rewarding term, it’s a pleasure to reflect on the exciting experiences and achievements of our pupils.

From hands-on learning to community initiatives, there’s been something for everyone to celebrate.

Our Christmas Dinner Preparations!

Fun and Memorable Experiences

Forest School Activities

This term, our pupils have once again had the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Forest School sessions continued to allow pupils to connect with nature, learn new skills, and build confidence.

Our new Year 7 pupils have really thrown themselves into Forest School activities which has been great to see!

DofE Expeditions and Volunteering

Many of our students began to rise to the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions, volunteering opportunities and skills sessions – demonstrating resilience and teamwork. We are looking forward to continuing with DofE activities in the new year.

Trips this term

We also shared laughter and enjoyment on trips to a very special cinema experience and trampolining park – wonderful chances to bond and have fun together.

Inspiring Learning Topics

Some of our topics

In the classroom, pupils have explored fascinating topics designed to spark curiosity and creativity. From planning their ‘Dream Destinations‘ in Geography, to discovering the beauty of ‘Chinese Art,’ delving into the history of ‘Medicine Through Time,’ and producing their own music tracks in ‘Music Production,’ it’s been a term full of engaging learning.

Giving Back to Our Community

Christmas Hampers

Our school is proud to support families in our local community, and this term’s Christmas Hamper initiative was no exception. Thanks to the generosity of our staff and families, we were able to spread festive cheer and help those in need.

Christmas Hampers

In September, members of our staff team walked an ENORMOUS 18 miles in order to raise money for life-saving defibrillators. The intrepid teachers walked from Marple, to Northenden and then on to Failsworth, taking in all three of our school sites. Now each of our sites has its own defibrillator! Great work team!

Farewell to Valued Staff Members

We are sad to be saying goodbye to three cherished members of our school team at the end of this term.

Goodbye and good luck to Mr Campbell!

Mr. Porter, our Citizenship and PE Teacher, is returning to Australia to complete his teacher training. We thank him for his dedication and hope to welcome him back in the future.

Goodbye and good luck to Mr Raymond (left)!

Mr. Raymond, who has inspired our pupils as a Music, Art, Cookery (and much more!) Tutor, is leaving us to pursue his career in music. We are excited to see where his talent takes him and wish him all the best in his musical journey.

Goodbye Miss Ahmed!

And finally, Miss Ahmed, our Outreach Support Worker, is also moving on to new opportunities, and we wish her every success.

All three will be greatly missed by pupils and staff alike.

New Initiatives

Thursday Night Games Club!

November saw the first of our brand new After School Games Club!

Each Thursday evening, pupils and staff get together in our recreation room after school for a fun-filled session of board games, quizzes, pool tournaments and a meal.

Keep a look out for more after school clubs in the Spring term!

We are incredibly proud of everything our pupils have achieved this term and look forward to even more exciting opportunities in the year ahead.

Wishing all our families and stakeholders a joyful holiday season and a happy New Year!
